drove to work last week with no problems, came out, to go home, the car would not start. pulled #1 plug and checked for spark, none. friend trailored car home for me, troubleshot ignition system, coil resistances and voltages to icm and coil check good, book said to replace icm if all checks good. instatlled new autozone icm , still no spark, is there a way to determine if the icm is good? waht else could I check in the system?

ICM testing procedures are not available.

Apart from those that you have tested, the PCM would be next on the list.

Although the resistance readings on the coil were in the acceptable range, the coil was at fault. Discovered this by attaching a plug wire to the secondary output and a sprk plug on the end of the wire, then grounding the negative terminal on the primary side and intermittantly applying voltage to the positve side. That should have produced a spark but did not. Removed the coil and could see discoleration from being overheated. Thanks

Sometimes resistance reading might be within range but the coil can still fail.

Hopefully the problem is resolved after replacement of the coil.
