Hi,
I have a 2000 Honda Civic DX with 102300 miles on it and it's been idling pretty rough the last few weeks and the engine has been sputtering. I tried fuel injection cleaner, had a tune-up, oil has been changed and I continue to have problems. Today the check engine light came on and a little bit of white smoke came out of the exhaust. I haven't noticed any leaks from anywhere. After the light came on it almost died out on me and I have it parked right now but when I start it again it's idling very rough?

Hi there,

Have the codes read and report them back here, also check for coolant loss, as the white smoke can be an indication of a head problem, if you can isolate the missing cylinder, check the plug for the white ceramic being a dirty brown colour, this will be a sign of water in that cylinder as well.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for you quick reply. I am taking the car in tomorrow and having the codes read. I did notice last week there was a small amount of radiator fluid missing from the overflow. I will have the plug checked too. Thank you again, Michelle
