My window only goes up half way when I attempt to close it automatically. How do I get it back onto the track so that it will?

Is it a track thing, or could it be something like the window regulator that's just not working anymore?
My 2000 Civic has very, very weak windows, it seems. Whenever I need to raise the window - especially when there's visible moisture on them like rain, snow, or dew - I actually hold the window "up" lever and pull the window up with my other hand. That seems to give it the extra "oomph" it needs to pull itself up.
