A/C stopped working on daughters car and when selected to "ON" would try to drag engine down. Low pressure reading is 125 psi as is the high pressure side. This system has never been worked on as we purchased the car new and I thought the low side should be 45-50 psi, but was told 25-30 psi would be more correct. The clutch does engage and tries to turn compressor, but clicks back off as if there is a low pressure indication. Again tho each time the clutch engages it tries to drag the engine down until it disengages. Am at a loss as to where to start. Also will be putting in another question on my '95 Pathfinder A/c as it has started freezing up.

Hi jbachhofer,

When the high and low pressure are equal as soon as the compressor stops working, you need to replace the compressor.
