What could cause the 80 amp fuse to blow? We have taken the alternator out and had it checked and it was fine. Please help!

Hi acoster,
The 80A is the main fuse for power supply and it could be blown due to shorting of the alternator or its wire.
If the battery had been reversely connected while jump starting, it would blow.
Testing would have to be carried out to determine if there are any other shortings.

There must be some kind of main short to the fuse panel or starter. Here are some diagrams that can help. I would unplug the ignition switch to see if it stops, also check down by the starter to see if there is a problem there.
