I got error codes p0700 and p0730 and the transmission is slipping. I looked the codes up but dont exactly know what both mean. The transmission is slipping when I start accelerating for a few secs.

Hi pmp,

P0700 is triggerred when transmission control system has detected an error, in this case is P0730.

DTC P0730/41: SHIFT CONTROL SYSTEM
NOTE: DO NOT perform this test procedure until all other DTC have been repaired first.

1. Road test vehicle at over 12 MPH for more than 30 seconds in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Using scan tool, check for any other DTC. If any other DTC are present, repair those DTC first, then recheck for DTC P0730. If no other DTC are present, go to next step.

2. Test clutch pressure. If clutch pressure is within specification, go to next step. If clutch pressure is not within specification, repair hydraulic system as necessary.

3. Replace shift control solenoid valve assembly. Turn ignition off and clear codes. Road test vehicle at over 12 MPH for more than 30 seconds in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear in "D4" position. Recheck DTC. If DTC P0730
returns, go to next step. If DTC P0730 does not return, system is okay.

4. Replace linear shift control solenoid valve assembly. Turn ignition off and clear codes. Road test vehicle at over 12 MPH for more than 30 seconds in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear in "D4" position. Recheck DTC. If DTC P0730 returns, repair internal components as necessary. If DTC P0730 does not return, system is okay.

I have a 1998 Honda civic DX, having the same problem as yours, transmission at D position and I am driving a few seconds later, it won't shift as normal operation and check engine light came on, and I pull over, put my OBD2 scanner and it gives me a code P0700 Transmission control system (MIL request), then further troubleshooting, another code P0730 in my OBD2 scanner saying transmission gear ratio, now my question is, what is the problem and what part do I need?, To get it repaired. Thank you
