1998 Honda Civic 98 Honda Civic flashing check engine light

First my speedometer works intermittingly, now my check engin light comes on, then starts flashing. What could be the problem?

Might be a problem with the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) have the PCM (computer) scanned for codes, Autozone will do it for free. If the PCM sees a problem it will store a code that will help in diagnosing the problem, get back with the exact codes
