I have a 97 Honda Civic ex Vtec auto with about 150k on the motor and tranny. I've had no problems with it going in gear or shifting. But last saturday when I drove approx 20 feet it slipped going into 2nd gear and approx 100 feet later there was nothing, like it was in nuetral, even when you put the shifter in park, though when I step on the gas, my rpm goes up and the engine makes the sound as if I'm moving. But when I shut the car off for approx 5 minutes I can drive it another 20 feet before it does it again. It has transmission fluid so I don't think that's the problem, but I could be wrong. And the check engine's light is on the whole time the car was on (the orange light). So what's wrong with it? How do I fix it? How much would the cost be?
