1997 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 1997 Hondas civic shifts hard and bumps when it downshifts, could you suggest what this might be? It has always shifted fairly hard.

Hi dalemccaw,

Problem is most likely to be due to the shift solenoids.

Is the D4 indicator blinking while driving?

no lights are on, it just shifts hard and bumps when it downshifts

Get a scan done to see if there are any trouble codes. If none, get the shift solenoids checked.
