i think I am having a transmission problem

i have an automatic.
i will be accelerating, and all of a sudden, I will be pushing on the gas and my mph will not move, and the rpm will start to decrease. And I like can not accelerate unless I tap the gas a few times.

if I do not let off the gas and continue to push on it, there is a loud popoing noise coming from the front on my car, not sure it is

sound like a transmission problem?

Hi tjklos,

I would think that it is an engine performance fault rather than a trans problem.

Possibly the O2 sensor is not working within specs. I would suggest getting on a diagnostic scan to check the O2 data.

While you are at it, check the Throttle Position Sensor data as well.
