1996 Honda Civic no power in drive

i have a honda civic with a 93 prelude engine.now when i start the car it has a sound like it choke.n when i put it in drive i put the peddle on the floor n it doesnt move barely.but when i put the shifter all the way to the botton on number to it has alot of power n moves fast.so i was wondering wat can it be im confuse wit this situtation
