Hi there, I have a 1996 Honda Civic EX (Automatic transmission) with a 1.6 engine that has about 116,100 miles on. I took it in for an oil change today and the Firestone mechanic said that there were "multiple oil leaks" and suggested that I take it to an engine shop to get them fixed. I was wondering how much does it cost to fix oil leaks on average??? Thanks so much for any info! :)

Hi there,

This question is almost impossible to answer with out knowing where the leaks are. As an engine can leak externally from any number of places, something like an oil pressure switch might cost as little as $30.00 to fix or a head gasket problem could go into the $1,000's. Best thing to do is to get a few quotes from trusted workshops, ask friends who they use. compare and then you have a better idea as to what you are up for.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely ask around to see who my friends take their vehicles to.
