1996 Honda Civic electrical fault

This problem seems to be getting worse I get in the car turn the key to crank and all the electrics just go off nothing works then I close the drivers door and everything works again. I can drive the car all day and its fine this fault only happens when I have not driven the car for a few hours.

I would suggest testing the battery and checking the terminal connections.
