I bought my car in July 2007 with 100,000 miles. I'm pretty sure it has the original timing belt so I'm actually deciding to fix something before it's broken this time.

I'm going to get a new belt but do I need a water pump? When the mechanic was taking the belt apart he said he saw an small "orange, goopy" leak near where the pump connects to the motor but besides that the pump looked ok.

Thanks.

Honestly, if its all apart I would do the water pump. It's not that costly of a part. And if it fails on you, it's a 3.5hr job to change it plus you'll have to replace the belt again most likely. So its good practice to do it all while its all apart. Atleast that's my opinion.
