I was checking my oil tonight and when I pulled the dipstick out the whole tube came up. I then lifted my car up and saw a belt and around the belt was a piece of white plastic that was burnt. Is this something I can fix myself? If not how much does this thing usually cost to get fixed?

Hi michael newman,

The dipstick tube is held by the timing belt cover with a curved part.

To replace the timing belt cover, you need to remove all the beltings and crank pulley.

The dipstick tube has an O ring at the bottom, replace it and push the tube back into position, it should not detach or move easily even if the holding part is broken. That is the easy way out.
