I came to a complete stop and the car died. All the engine wants to do is just turn over but not start. I checked the battery volts and they were good. I checked for fuel but I couldn't tell if the pump was working because of surrounding noise. I replaced the rotor, the distributor cap and still got nothing. I checked the ignition coil and got proper ohms and I checked the ignition module and it had proper ohms also. If it is the timing belt, wouldn't I have heard more scary mechanical sounding noise because it is? An interferance engine? Anyway, any help will do.

Hi eodmills,

At slow rpm if the timing belt gives way, it would not emit much noise and there is a possibility the valves are not affected as it is supposed to be a non interference engine.

Remove distributor cap and crak engine, if rotor does not turn, the timing belt is buste.

Pull a plug wire out, attach a spark plug, ground it to the engine and get someone to crank and chack for sparks. If no spark, check fo faulty coil.

Unloosen 6mm service bolt on fuel rail and turn ignition on, if no fuel gushes out, check for faulty fuel pump or main relay.
