I bought a 1995 Honda Civic yesterday and everything was great. On the drive home the speedometer and odometer stopped working. No unusual noises, no check engine lights, no check anything lights came on. A few miles down the road it started working just fine, back to normal. However, I got in the car to go somewhere, it started to work, then it didn't, then it did, and so on. The odometer automatically stops registering miles when the speedometer goes to zero. The hand on the speedometer will jump before it starts to work again. What are your thoughts on what is wrong?

Check for a loose connection behind the cluster. Also check the VSS harness connector for corrosion.
