My AC has had intermittent problems for the past year that only occur only on hot days and after the car has run for at least 5 minutes with the AC on. On cool to warm days, the AC will continue to work, but if it's hot outside the air blowing turns to the same temperature as the outside or only slightly cool. Turning off the AC for a few minutes sometimes causes the problem to disappear and everything works fine again for a few more minutes. The car has been checked for low refrigerant and the mechanic said the system was fine. Compression seems to be fine, although there is a bit a oscillation of system pressure when tested. The mechanic vacuumed the system, replaced the AC system oil, and replaced the refrigerant, but the problem persists. Do I need a new compressor, or is there something else wrong?

Your reply asks for further information:

"Hi civic1,

Get the low and high pressure readings and we shall see if we can come up with anything."

I seem to recall either 1000 or 2000. I don't know what unit of measure was used. The mechanic didn't seem concerned with the actual pressure, but I recall the pressures would oscillate rapidly (maybe 5-15 times a second on the pressure gauge within 200 units - again, not sure if that was psi or what unit of measure).
