1995 Honda Civic hood latch

1995 Honda Civic Manual

Is it safe to remove or disable a broken hood latch and replace it with hood pins? The car is salvage title, using oil and not worth the $500 to replace the latch system. I need to be able to put oil in it periodically in order to keep driving it while I shop for a new vehicle.

Hi Carere,

There should be no problem with that.

In fact hood pins are better than latches as they are visible and easily monitored.
