Air Conditioning problem

My compressor failed and my mechanic just put a used one in for me yesterday. Now when I'm driving, the car is ok for a few minutes but then starts to sort of jerk. When I stop at a light and the a/c is on, the car seems to almost stall and I have to give it some gas or turn the a/c off. Lastly, twice today I've had the a/c on and it seems ok for a while and then lets out a hissing/spraying type noise and I immediately shut it off and some "spray" comes out the vents. Any ideas?
