Hello, my civic recently just shut off driving down the street. It would turn over, but never fire up. I read online to replace the ICM but couldn't get the cap and rotor off. So, I bought a used distrubter and put it on. It still wont start, and now has kind of a low whiney noise. I'm not really sure where I went wrong, or if the ICM was even the issue in the first place. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

We are going to start checking for spark
Check if you have spark on your plugs
if so, check the gas pump Turn the key on and see if you "hear" a whinning noise coming from the gas tank. Take the cap off and tell somebody to actuate the ignition.
Let us know also if the rotor turns when the engine its "cranking".
We will wait for your annswers.

No there is no reset for the pump.
Check the fuses Usually are located under the hood
and there you should find the relay also, on a box, (they are marked)

Let us Know.

Okay so after checking all the fuses I checked the fuel filter and let all the pressure out of the line. Then I turned it over again and it rebuilt pressure. After cranking a minute on the engine, it started up. Whoo hoo! So I guess it is good to go? Is there anything that sounds concerning to you?

Thanks for all your guidence!

Did you replace the fuel filter?

Well ready to go but.

Be aware that if the pump quit working for a while. It is possible that you have to replace it soon.

Good luck!
