I have a 1992 honda civic 16 valve engine which was running well untill yesterday. The car cuts itself down after about 3-5 miles, when you try to restart it will turn over but not start. Then you have to wait about 3-4 hours before it crank up again. Replaced spark plus and wires and distributor but an still having same problem.

During the down time when it fails to start you need to determine if there is spark and fuel.

Now, generally the ignitor and coil will flat not give a spark, but this could be one of those situations where one of them is failing slowly and it could be a sensor like the cam or crank sensor. I can't tell you which one it is. There are some tests that you can do. For instance, when it is not starting and no spark exists, see if there is 12 volts of power to the coil. If it has power but nothing coming out of it, replace it.
