This problem just happened recently. I was at a red light and my revs are normally at 1000 when I am idling but the revs fell to 300 and back to 1000 with a jerking motion, this repeated itself about 4 times in 5 seconds. It stopped. It was then a green light and so I accelerated normally and then when I got to another red light about 15 seconds later, while I was again idling I put the car into neutral and back into drive, this time however the revs fell to 400-500 and the car just kind of vibrated or shook constantly until I resumed moving again. Before this incident happened and I first started the car, it would not start on the first try. All the lights and everything would turn on but the engine would not start. I tried to start it one more time and got the same result. On the third try it started normally. Could these things be connected?

Hi shazads,

The normal idling speed should be about 750rpm when operating temp is achieved.

You are facing a problem with the idling speed and it could be caused by the throttle body and EACV. Get them cleaned up and idle readjusted.

The difficult starting could be due to an intermittently failing PGM-FI main relay. Repair or replacement should solve the problem.
