Steering problem
1991 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 160K miles

I just had purchased new tires without getting the car alignment adjusted. I drove the car without the alignment adjustment and smelled the tire getting worn. So, I had the wheels aligned and the tires balanced. As I was driving I smelled a buning rubber smell and didn't think anything of it because I thought it was the car next to me. The smell continued so I finally got to the point to where I checked the tires and found that the inside of the front tires were getting worn. Pior to this circumstance we had a a head on collision with the local wildlife which pushed back the radiator bracket and dented its components. Since this occurance the steering wheel shakes side to side. When I had gotten the car realigned there wasn't any change. What course of action should I take. Is it the steering or is there somthing wrong with one of my compnents that pertain to alignment

Hi poisoncreeper,

When alignment was performed, the toe in and out should solve the tire wear problem as described.

Excessive wear should be due to a fault with improper alignment. I would suggest getting a second opinion.

Are the alignment specifications all correct?

If anything was wrong with the steering components, why were they not indicated out to you during the alignment?
