This week my car was flooded by a flash flood from the neighboring creek. The water and mud reached the top of the instrument panel inside and layered the entire interior and engine in silty mud.

My question is where do I start to try and get it working again. I have gurney'd all the mud off the engine and the interior. But don't know where to go from here. The dip stick in the oil far surpasses the level where the oil should be and the transmission fluid also looks to be full. I don't know how to check the petrol tank for water. The break discs appear to be rusting up after only a couple of days. This is my first car and would love to have her back on the road as before the flooding she worked near perfectly. I am a little reluctant to sell her for parts but will do so if there is no hope. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you plan on fixing this car back then you will certainly be out a lot of money. Not only was it water damage, but mud as well. Just the water alone is going to destroy pretty much every electrical component used by the vehicle. This inludes battery, starter, alternator, computers, fuses, relays, etc. This is thousands of dollars worth of repairs at a shop. Even the parts that may stilll work, will eventually give out within a short time.

I don't believe this car retails for that much. If you really love it, I would suggest getting however much money you can out of it and try to buy another one like it.
