I have a 1990 Honda Civic Si with a engine from 90 Acura LS 1.8 Litter engine. When it first starts it smokes for a while but after driving a while the smokes stops? What do you think could cause this?

I have been told both my fuel mixture is off and that I need a valve job but I am not sure.
