1989 honda civic runs fine when gas is full, gets below 1/2 tank and wants to die, fill the tank and it runs fine till it gets below 1/2 tank

You would have to check the fueltank. If it is fuel injected model, most probably the fuel pump strainer or hoses are leaking.
