1988 Honda Civic wont start

replaced the cars radiator and thermostat. When we went to start the car it would crank but nothing would happen. also the water hose would get really big like swollen get a lot of pressure so i was askin what may be the problem????

did it over heat before ?
check head gasket and check compression
