I have a 1988 Honda Civic hatchback with the 1.5L engine. About a month ago my car started hesitating a bit when I was driving down the road. I took it to a shop in my town and they changed the plugs and valve cover gasket ($200) and When I got it back it was doing the same thing a day later. Finally the engine light came on and was reading code 6, so I changed the coolant temp sensor. Ran a bit better but still hesitated (it is almost like I'm pushing the gas and letting off it doesnt cut right out just goes back down to idle speed when my foot is still on gas). Took it to a different shop and they cleaned my idle air control valve and the car ran awesome for 1 day. Then yesterday my engine light came on again and my car was hesitating really bad. I saw code 1 so I changed my O2 sensor and took it for a drive. About 15 mins into my test drive it started to hesitate again! I'm getting fed up with it. Can you please help me?

Hi bubbasmith420,

Hesistation are usually due to misfiring plugs which can be due to

1. Plug cables. ( Use ohm meter to test resistance, > 0 but less than 25k ohms)
2. Ignition coil. (Test resistance of primary and secondary coils.)
3. Fuel pressure. ( Regulator, pump or filter problem. )
4. Fuel injectors.
5. Throttle position sensor.
