my 1988 honda civic dx doesnt have a tachometer so how do i adjust the idle how low or high should it idle and how do i know when the idle is perfect for it when adjusting it? by sound?

You will have to get something that can read your RPM, such as a digital timing light with a tachmoeter on it.
