I just bought this as a backup car today. It runs
strong but all the way home it stalled every time I applied the brakes to come to a stop. Owner had just put in a new battery. The car sat in a garage one year without being started. I don't know anything about cars and was wondering if anyone might have an idea what's wrong.

Hi NancyLittlejohn,

Seems the idle speed is too low. If readjusting the idle speed does not help, you would need to check/service the carburettor.
