1996 Honda Accord Anniversary edition 116,000 miles automatic transmission. For the past two weeks I have been driving my car and it has been shutting off on me out of no where, at whatever speeds. At first the RPMs would just drop down to 0, and then jump up to 3 but lately it has been dropping down to 0, coasting and then shutting off. I then pull over, put it in park, and restart it. Sometimes it take a while to start, but it usually starts. What could be the problem?

When it is running, I bet it runs pretty good. There are a number of possibles, that run from fuel pump on up through the fuel supply system to the electrical. I favor the electrical. Because the problem is intermittent you will find this hard to diagnose. I suspect one of the sensors on the cam or crank but I can't point directly to it. Has the CEL been coming on?
