Honda Accord 1999 Aerial Question

1999 Honda Accord 1.8 mileage 135000. Hello, I would like to know if I can disconnect the aerial on my Accord without removing the stereo. I only listen to cd's I have compiled and therefore do not require the aerial - hate the noise it makes when it emerges or retracts.

I would also like to mention another problem I am having - I recently had my steering rack replaced because it kept leaking fluid. However, I now notice very occasionally when I am turning a corner I hear a whining noise which stops when I straighten the car. I took the car back to the mechanic who gave it a check but could not find anything wrong. I presume because this noise happens occasionally he may not have heard it. Any ideas.

There is a blue wire to the stereo and it should be either labeled or there is a schematic showing the wire. I think it has a seperate plug. Another option is the wire at the antennae itself. This should have no effect on the radio operation.

Are you sure the noise is from the rack or is the noise now from the pump? I am going to make a guess that there is some air in the system that needs to be released. Have the mechanic do one last bleed to see if that helps the problem.

Thanks for the advice - i disconnected the aeirial from the antenna. It will do for now but i'll probably replace it with one that doesn't extract/retract.

With regard to to bleeding the power steering system for air - could I do this myself? If so could you please instruct how I go about this and what tools I would need. Thank you.

With further investigation it is supposed to be self bleeding. Turning the system fully left and fully right is supposed to push out the air. It may take number of tries to rid the air from the system.

I also am not sure about the condition of the power steering pump itself. It may be one of you next expenditures. But I would see if it gets worse or more noticeable.
