Hello there.

I accidentally pumped 15 liters of unleaded into a 60 litre capacity diesel fuel tank. I managed to drive the car home the final 160 miles without incident.

What should I do now?

Should I have the tank drained or might it be okay to keep the tank topped up with diesel in the hope that the unleaded evenyually works through the system.

many thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi there,

As a precaution i would drain and flush the tank, flush the fuel lines & replace the filter, the diesel fuel is the lubricant for the injectors & the pump, running unleaded in the fuel can cause premature wear and also cause excessive detonation , this is not a desirable combination.
