Sometimes, when the brakes are applied, a noise something like a cat's meow, except lower pitched can be heard. The brake performance is no different when the noise is heard. I have done the functional tests on the brake booster, and nothing seems to be amiss. Any ideas on cause?

HI there,

I would start with checking that the brakes are not glazed up and that the wear indicators are not touching the rotors causing this noise, start here.

Hi there,

If the noise is a vacuum type noise when the brakes are applied I would be re checking the booster.

With engine off, pump brakes till all vacuum is expelled.

Hold brake down and start engine.

Pedal should suck down a little with vacuum build up.

There should be no sucking or whistling sound with brake application, you may hear a muffled huff type noise as the booster operates, if in doubt have a mechanic listen, also check around the booster vacuum line and check valve for a leak there and check the check valve (the fitting into the booster is working (its a one way valve)
