2006 Honda Accord Car moves without being given gas

2006 Honda Accord 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 19k miles

Hi all,
My car seems to be idleing to fast or something like that. At a complete stop if i let go of the brake my car can go 5-10 MPH with out the slightest tap on the gas. Thanks in advance

Hi leorsiy,

What is the idling speed when stopped?
Was anything done prior to this happening?

Not sure if the RPM is the same as idling speed i think not? But it RPM while in Park with feet of pedals is like 1 i hit abt 7-8mph.

Idling is indicated by the rpm and if it is at 1000, it is too high and this would cause the vehicle to move by itself.

During cold start, the idling would be higher than 1000 and after warming up, it should be about 700.
If rpm stays at 1000 after engine operating temperature is achieved, it could be vacumn leakages or a stuck Idle Air Control valve.

Is there any indicator lights showing?

OK so it looks a little more than 700. I included a picture its a little fuzy the car is moving so.... What are the "side effects" of having the car idle fast besides the car moving. Is it easy to diagnosis if its a vacumn leakages or a stuck Idle Air Control valve? Thanks Again for all your help

You can try resetting the PCM/ECM and perform the idling relearn procedure.

1. Make sure all electrical items (A/C, audio, rear window defogger, lights, etc.) are off.
2. Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and wait 2 seconds.
4. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, or until the engine coolant temperature reaches 194°F (90°C).
5. Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed.
NOTE: If the radiator fan comes on, do not include its running time in the 5 minutes.
