How do you Know if vehicle might require an audio code after a battery disconnect?

Somebody said just do it and then you will know. That was goofy. How about a straight out answer to the question?

Need to know if I should search/obtain for the code or not waste time looking for nothing.

Most times the radio will say somewhere on it that it is theft protected or have a blinking light. I always use the better safe than sorry approach. At an a.utoparts store purchase a memory saver. It is a 9 volt battery that plugs into your cigar lighter. it will keep the radio and modules powered while battery is changed. Make sure you check to see if your cigar light outlet works first before attempting
