the other day it rain real hard an the streets got flooded.the next day when i started my car it started right up an i went to the store when i tried it again it would not start i had a mechanic look at it an he said that buy me driving the car that water got into the fuel pump an he needs to replace the fuel pump for 300 dollars this is not an old car why does the luel pump needs to be changed

Hi moeskill,

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank and water cannot get to it unless it can enter the fuel tank.

Get a new mechanic. This guy does not know what he is saying.

Check for sparks. Flood water getting to the crank shaft sensor can result in non starting.
