I had my water pump, actually now that I think of it, it may have been the power steering pump, replaced just about 3 mos ago, and when the A/C is running (during idle), it makes a constant "whirring" noise, sometimes with a little bit of a pitch to it. If I turn off the A/C it will go away kind of, but when the A/C kicks back on it starts again faintly. The A/C pump or unit was also replaced around the same time. It hasn't started the real high pitched thing yet, but I was wondering what your recommendations are for what is wrong.

Hi there, this sounds as if the bearing on the idler pulley is failing, have this checked out, that is the pulley that is the tensioner for the A/C belt.
