I think there is a problem with my transmission. While in Drive, my car would rev up to 3-5, but not go anywhere. I can describe it like my car would drive normally at first gear. When it goes into second gear, it doesn't and it feels like it goes into neutral. My car would roll back if im on a hill. It is like it doesn't grab second gear. I tried to shift it to D3, D2, D1, and even R, but same thing, it is like in neutral. I managed to drive my car after I restart the engine a couple of times. I've gotten stuck on the streets for minutes before I can drive again. This is very dangerous. I freak out every time it happens. The problem started today. I am even scared to drive the car to a garage. My car is a 2004 Honda Accord Sedan LX V6 with AUTOMATIC transmission. Please help!

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

Check that there is plenty of oil in the transmission, this will have to be checked over by a qualified trans tech, if you feel unsafe driving the car have it towed in, better to be safe than sorry, you can also get a scan done as this may shed some light onto this problem as well.

I changed the engine and transmission oil about 2 weeks ago. So I do not think that is the problem. Is there another reason to why this is happening?

Was this a second hand Trans & engine? If so is the ECU compatible with it? I would still get a trans specialist to inspect the unit, don't presume that it is ok until it ha been check and pass fault free.
