I have a 2003 Honda Accord with 88,000 miles. I had a local repair center inspect my car and it was recommended that I replace the struts and two year old tires are showing inordinate wear. Is this normal?

No it does not, but that depends on the part of the country you live in. I say that because you could live in an area with poor roads, country driving, etc. The struts get the dickens beat out of them to save your hide from a bad ride. I have replaced front suspension springs for that same reason of wearing out tires. So, while not what I call a normal thing it sure can be so.
