Smells problem
2002 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic 105247 miles

Hello- I was told thatthese relate to manufactured fuel and air metering. What exactly does that mean? I had the O2 sensor replaced about 5 months ago. The light has been on for a bit-recently- the car seems to "smell like something is burning" The mechanic who changed my oil didnt know what coudl be wrong. Honda dealership semingly just wants to make $ off me -their svd dept was very vague-tehy jsut kept saying to bring it in so they can perform all kinds of diagnostics on it. I know taht it will fail emissions in this condition. I would appreciate your feedback. Also unrelated but I dont believe my timing belt has ever been changed. What signs would you get that woudl lead me to be proactive vs recative with this expnsive maintenance issue. Thank you for your time. ( My father just says to change it now ).

Hi Ntvsister,

DTC P1167: A/F SENSOR (SENSOR 1) HEATER SYSTEM MALFUNCTION.

It is the HO2S sensor circuit and it could be due to a faulty sensor or the wiring circuit. If you had replaced the part with non OEM parts, there is a possibility ithey are not cmpatible. Check for loose connections and power supply.

P1169 is not found in my database. Can you please verify if the code is correct?

Recommended timing belt replacement period is 105k miles or 84 months and I would advise you to listen to your father, get it replaced now.

Thank you ever so kindly for your feedback> I will get it all checked out and look into replacing the timing chain. Is Honda one of those cars taht if timing belt goes- the engine goes as well? As far as the code, it may be P1164 instead of 69 I cannot get in touch with person who recorded it for me.
Thank you again for your time!-

You are welcomed.

P1164 should be the corect code. It refers to the same sensor as P1167 excet it is of the second circuit.

Yes, this is an inteference engine and if the timing belt breaks, it would cause damage to the valves.
