2001 Honda Accord wont shift out of park right away

Could you please tell me why my honda will not shift out of park right away.It will eventually but not right away.(Yes foot is on brake etc.) Thank you.

Hi 68rallysport,

The interlock system is malfunctioning preventing the gear to be shifted out.

Check if the brake lights are working when this happens, if not, you have a faulty brake switch.

If brake lights are working and you do not hear a solenoid clicking near the gear shift console, the interlock solenoid could be stuck or not getting power to operate it.
