I have a rattle that has just started on under my 2001 Accord. It is worse on acceleration. Someone told me it was a Cv axle can you help me replace it?

Hi,

Replacing a drive axle (half shaft/CV axle) really isn't as difficult as you think. It will require you to lift the vehicle, remove the wheel and brakes, and some specialized tooling. However, most parts stores will lend you what is needed.

To get you started, here is a link that explains in general how one is replaced. You can use this as a guide when working on your vehicle.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/replace-cv-axle

Listed below are the directions for the removal and replacement of the axle/CV joints. Additionally, the directions provide the directions for rebuilding the joints if that is what you want to do, I will tell you that the cost is going to be about the same for the entire axle and new joints. However, I thought I would add them for you.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
