Transmission problem
2001 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic 152761 miles

Timing belt, water pump and associated parts were replaced. Idle screw was turned to give car more power (idles rough at stops, a/c gives intermittent clicking sound). Left mechanic's, got on freeway and shortly thereafter, the "check engine light" came on. The light had not been on at anytime prior to mechanic visit and I had not noticed any problems with the transmission (this is my 2nd one. Original was replaced at 54,000 miles and exactly 5 years later, is now throwing a fault code). My question is whether the timing belt components and/or idle screw change could be causing the false Fault code?

Hi sagitarriusaztec,

Thank you for the donation.

P0740 = lockup clutch system problem.

If timing belt replacement had been done incorrectly resulting in power losses, it can cause the fault code.
