IN THE LAST FEW DAYS I HAVE HEARD THE FAN ON IN MY CAR AFTER I STOP. IT HAS NEVER CAME ON BEFORE. MY SON NOTICED THE GAUGE GOING TO THE HOT ZONE. HE PUT ANTIFREEZE IN IT & ITS NOT GOING TO THE HOT SIDE BUT SAID STEAM WAS COMING OUT OF THE RADIATOR WHEN HE WAS WAITING IN LINE AT A FAST FOOD WINDOW. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A THERMOSTAT PROBLEM OR RADIATOR?

THANKS, JANET

Janet,

A bad thermostat won't cause a loss of coolant. If you need to add it and there is steam coming from the radiator, chances are that is the problem. If the radiator is leaking between the tanks, it can be fixed. If it is leaking from or where the tanks join the radiator, you will need a new one.

LEt me know if you have other questions, let me know and thanks for using 2carpros. Com.
