I recently swaped my f23a4 honda motor to a f23 japan honda motor. It was interchangeable and everything works except the timming seems to be off. I have checked the timming marks which are fine and the sensors are also fine. The belt was changed but when using the timming gun everything seems fine. The car is doing a rough/erratic idle and if you try to excellerate it cuts off. Im starting to think maybe the computer is reading it wrong because the motor is japan and emissions in japan are lower than the usa. Although all the sensors are the same all the connections were also the same and the year are also the same. I'm stuck can you help?

No, the ecu shouldn't cut it out. Have you scanned it for codes? Have you re-checked the timing marks?

Yeah, I have checked for the marks they are ok and with this year you cannot adjust the timming the ecu does. My computer is not giving any codes no check engine light. I'm pretty sure the timming is good it just seems as if it aint because of the symptons im getting. Also today when I checked again on the scanner its reading +10 when yesterday it was -10. The car at idle seems fine but after a few minutes will fluctuate and want to cut off but will once you step on the gas. I have also checked the catalic converter to see maybe if it had gotten some oil in there because of a bad valve on the old motor but no it's good.
