I have recently been hearing a noise and don't know what it is. It sounds sort of like a plane engine once I hit about 25 mph. It gradually gets louder then is just a loud hum as I continue along. When I brake or slow down, it starts to get softer. I originally thought it was the muffler, but the sound is no different when I open the windows. In fact, it sounds like it is mostly heard from the inside. The car is running well, and I have had no major problems. I have not have the timing belt replaced and I'm wondering if this could be a warning sign that it needs to be done.

Hi christinagarry,

I believe one of the wheel bearing is bad. Get them checked.

Timing belt would not cause such noises and there would be no warning at all.
