I replaced 2 tires at Sears. The inside of the front tires were wearing out. They put the old back tires in front of the car and the new ones in back. They recommeded that I install a cam part (?) That is a solid rod (part K90204), install a ball joint and get 2 new front tires. They said if I don't get this cam part, the same problem will occur, where the inside of the tires will wear down again. It's really costly for this cam part and was wondering if I just couldn't buy 2 new tires and have the car aligned?

Hope this makes sense.

Al,

I am having the same problem with the tires cupping on the outside, I just bought 4 new tires from firestone and it rides nice, but I seem to be having the same problem but with just the front drivers side. So I am going to take it in and just get that side replaced, they wanted to replace all four, but the other three sides are good and they think money grows on trees, but it does not. So if you take care of it now you will get a few more years of enjoyment out of the car unless you plan on selling the car soon!

Get another estimate. And yes you should repair it. You might be surprised at the cost that your independant repair shop will charge(could be considerably less than sears)
