my husband changed oil and noticed it was leaking and wasn't before he changed it. He let it run in park and didn't see any leaks. Unknowningly, my son took off in it and it leaked in drive. It shut down after less than 5 miles of driving. We put oil in it, and it turned over but no firing. We figured it blew the engine, but we were told the bearings didn't seize up and that honda's have an oil sending unit that could of shut down the engine so it wouldn't blow and that we might just need to replace the oil sending unit. How likely is it that this could be the case?

The vehicle won't shut down if it senses low oil pressure. The motor most likely seized up on you, and you will need an overhaul or replacement.
